Features and general Gecko info
Low-Maintenance
Crested geckos and Gargoyles are relatively easy to care for, making them a good choice for beginners.
Arboreal
They are tree-dwellers and enjoy climbing. Enclosures with height are more appropriate than low lying long enclosures
Unique Features
They have fringed crests and special toe pads that allow them to stick to vertical surfaces.
Lifespan
They can live for 10-20 years
Diet
They primarily eat commercial food, but can also be given insects. Your gecko has been raised with a variety of Pangea flavors, Dubia roaches, crickets and meal worms.
Nocturnal (Diurnal)
They are most active at night. Crested Geckos do not have eye lids, but are most likely asleep during the day. Early morning and evening are the best time for interacting with them.
Setting Up Your Enclosure
A vertical enclosure with branches, vines, and foliage is recommended. Hatchlings and Juveniles are fine with basic branches and limited coverage to allow them to find their food. As they grow into sub adults it is best to increase coverage, so they have lots of places to hide and feel secure.
Solitary
Male crested geckos can not be housed together. They are territorial and will fight. Females can sometimes be housed together IF they are similar sized and the enclosure is large with multiple feeding points, hides and lots of coverage.
Personality
Although they are not communial animals they do each have unuiqe and individual personalities. We have some geckos that like to great us and ride on our shoulder, and others that would rather be watched than held.
